The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a process through which adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church. It’s a journey of spiritual growth and exploration where individuals prepare to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Whether you are seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith, preparing for sacraments, or have already been baptized and wish to deepen your relationship with God, the OCIA is designed for you. We are here to walk alongside you on this transformative path.
OCIA is the process by which adults are initiated into the Catholic Church. It is a journey of faith that typically takes place over several months and involves prayer, study, and reflection. Participants will deepen their understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church, experience the beauty of the sacraments, and learn how to live out their faith in everyday life.
Inquiry: The first step, where participants learn about the Catholic faith and ask questions.
Catechumenate: The period of more in-depth learning about the teachings, traditions, and practices of the Catholic faith.
Purification and Enlightenment: A time of intense spiritual preparation before receiving the sacraments.
Initiation: The moment of receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation, typically at the Easter Vigil.
Mystagogia: The period following initiation, where participants continue to deepen their faith and integrate into the parish community."
OCIA is open to any adult who has never been baptized, or those who have been baptized in another Christian denomination and wish to join the Catholic Church. It is also for baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation. Whether you are just beginning your faith journey or have been on the path for a while, we invite you to take this next step with us.
